KE client captures Mukot Peak first ascent

Check out this brilliant video sent in by Mark Aitken who climbed with the KE group on the first recorded ascent of Mukot Peak (6087m) in Dolpo, Nepal, on 17 October 2015. The pioneering expedition was lead by Ade Summers and successful climbers were Mark Aitken, Alex Duhalt, Mark Soares and Sian Beaty. Sherpas were Kame Sherpa, Dorje Sherpa and Gelgin Sherpa.

The group flew to Jhupal, a high airstrip in the Dolpo region of West Nepal, on Tuesday 6th October.

They made a 10 day trek, travelling east through the valleys of the Barbung Khola and Mukot Khola to the base camp for Mukot Peak. After a period of acclimatisation and preparation, a team of 4 clients and 3 Sherpa guides made the successful ascent of the peak.

KE reached the summit again a week later with a second group led by veteran KE Leader Tom Richardson and succeeded in placing 7 of the 8 group members on the summit on 23 October.
